How We Started

These perfumes are the product of thousands of years, they run back to the ancient Kingdom of Kush and the Meroe civilization. Natural herbs, flowers, and oils were cooked and preserved in a specific way, stored and used for specific occasion, romantic nights and more specific to be used by the Kandaka’s (Queens) and royals, women of the Meroe civilization were known for how they cared for their beauty and jewelry, this civilization was the source and root of the Egyptian pharaohs whom descended from the same family.

My family descended from the Nubian civilization, our Sudanese great-grandmothers perfected and modified the perfumes while maintaining the same principles. In my family, we managed to tweak and modernize the making of these special aromatic perfumes to appeal to our new and younger generations. Our perfumes are noticeable, memorable, and at the same time soft and feminine. We invite you to try them and enjoy these truly unique scents.

How our perfumes are made

The technique generally used to prepare traditional perfumes is unique. The smoking of ingredients is unusual and is something not really seen across other perfume techniques.

A paste is made from powdered ingredients such as mahleb seeds, cloves, nutmeg, nude-sandalwood and musk. Sometimes, even dried apples studded with cloves and orange peels are added. This is then smoked in a charcoal fire with pieces of sandalwood and aromatic woods. After this, we add frankincense with various aromatic oils. The smoked paste is then infused with oil to produce the perfume.
